# PROJECT TX-Q (Quest 2) - A glimpse of the FUTURE OF METAVERSES! (7Gup4b1Sqow, 703s) [Music] it's me named sony welcome back to another vr video today we are randomly hanging around um and unfortunately the quality of this video will probably be low but also the quality of the world you're seeing is is quite low as well um and that's because what you're seeing today is not project ex it is project txq um just a little letter added on the end why because it is actually running on the quest device uh so quest two and this is just a very quick test it took me a couple days just to convert a lot of my systems over so that they work properly on on an upgraded sort of unity setup to make sure that it it'll export to android and export quest um i'm not getting perfect frame rates right now and that's for a reason and not because of the regular tracking i'll show you that in a moment but as you can see it it all works sort of exactly as as planned um i've got just the ragdoll showing right now um oh actually underneath that you can see my actual tracking logic that's the same character model that you normally see you can just about see his head in this shadow yes i'm using dynamic shadows i'm just sort of stress testing the capabilities of the device um i should probably never use dynamic shadows when running on quest this is running on the actual mobile quest um it is not uh the jumping is a little bit problematic right now but uh yeah it is not running uh on on pc or anything like that but as you can see full physics full physics arms and all of that good stuff right the full physic body as well all works really really well you can see it actually crouches you'll also notice there are hands stuck in the ground they're actually sitting at 0 0 0 in the game world but let me just position myself in the center of the game world not game world but in the center of my room and i'll switch over to hybrid exploration mode now this is really really cool because there we go um now i can sort of not use my analog sticks like in fact you can see my right analog stick works fine right crouch jump all expected but my left analog stick does nothing and that's because we're using hybrid exploration mode which means that i can walk around within the circle of this this ring here and wherever i position myself it actually moves in that direction and then uses my locomotion system as usual so i can still run around but not having a cable at all this is bloody excellent now this is really cool but it's even cooler when i put the controllers down why because as soon as those controllers sit down and disable themselves we switch to hand tracking perfect um so here we go i've got hand tracking unfortunately i don't have analog sticks you can see the controllers are just moving to where the hands are this is very very prototypey very very quick build of of this very very simple uh demo very simple world as well i wanted to make a bigger world but i kind of have a lot of stuff to do right now um and getting back to work as well proper work so there we go but uh yeah so you can see i'm cracking and you can see the physics arms and everything follow that and that's because i'm simply overriding my actual controller tracking as soon as the hands are enabled well as soon as the controllers are disabled right now you can see full hand tracking and you can you can see if i do the gesture you'll see the oculus menu uh uh starting up but if i stand in a nice position in my game in my uh play space i can hit the menu button like i did before reset the ring and now we've got hybrid exploration mode running with hand tracking meaning that i have full directional control over locomotion i can walk i can run and no analog sticks at all [Laughter] it's brilliant if you're wondering what this text is it's uh it's my frame rate which is probably not very good right now but yeah so um ignore mr avatar over here uh he was actually supposed to be tracking the tracking rig but i decided i'll just uh leave it as is for now i want to test things properly and see what the ragdoll is doing i haven't fully fixed the the shoulder movement yet so you can see it doesn't it sort of crushes its stretch a little bit there um but there we go now you can see that because it's tracking because my tracking positions are just being overridden by the hand tracking that means the physics is still there right and it's tracking my hands now so we can actually just lift ourselves up as we did before [Music] in hand tracking mode i'm not holding any controllers i'm just using my hands right now so there we go and with with my locomotion system that makes this absolutely beautiful no turning around no rotational systems or anything like that i'm not using my right analog stick because i don't have one i'm not using a left analog stick to walk around and i can walk around infinitely my gameplay space is never it's definitely not this big right i can walk around if i want to i can jog around right i do have to keep my hands within range right now because i haven't done any disabling systems properly there we go and i can run around if i want to and of course i can run backwards as well so there we go i can just sort of walk sideways if i want to it's all completely natural i can just do this however i want now with a slightly larger play space than i have here you can expand the ring a little bit and i have some advanced systems as well for dynamically expanding the ring based on your play space which of course you can manage directly if you want you'll probably be able to see the guardian actually which i've purposefully made just sort of just in range of of this sort of tracking setup but there we go brilliant it i am absolutely controller free i have full locomotion full directionality complete speed control full physics hands and unfortunately no jumping system yet but i i have i've done that in the past where it never had any buttons or anything so i'll just be doing that later but right now i do have a high enough ceiling that i can jump in reality no cables no blooming tethers to worry about it's just complete freedom and physics you can see this uh softball here this thing doesn't act the same way that you would expect a local ball to work it's actually a very different mechanic it's just there for visualization the ball doesn't actually exist but uh there we go so yeah you can sort of step up on things if you move the right speed there we go uh but there we go yeah it's it it's just something that i've been wanting to do for a long while now is get my systems this is what i've been planning right this all of this sort of completely controller-free uh headset only vr it's something that i have planned into these systems um i've been working on this idea that you can do this completely in a non-gaming way and i mentioned this in the video in fact even in the demo that i released for uh for the hybrid exploration system uh which is this isn't about gaming i i want to step beyond gaming i've always wanted to step beyond gaming with this stuff it's about just experiencing the world so being able to walk around run around as you would naturally no controllers no pressing buttons nothing and still have a full physics body still have complete control over your hands if um once i get some of the upgrades into the disabling system so when when you have your hand out of range it doesn't do that right so right now it just sort of zeros them out and places them at the headset which is a terrible position to be placing your hands when you're viewing the world from your headset so there we go but yeah yeah so i need to work on all of that make sure that it sort of has this nice natural blend when you're no longer in view of the headset hopefully someday we'll start seeing better tracking coming from hand tracking and all of that stuff as well i wouldn't know anything about that stuff um whatever new tech is coming coming along is coming along you know it's it's just whatever whatever um i can only hope that it'll be it'll be really amazing but you can imagine how far i can go with this right so you have full hands and i'm sure you guys have all all tried the han physics labs or at least seen that demo built by another developer take that stuff apply it to what i've built here put it all together put everything you can think of together and you will be able to experience worlds with no controllers no gaming devices or anything like that it's just purely this is the real metaphor right this is the metaverse that i plan the ability to actually experience the game worlds the the virtual worlds not in a corporate way but just in a in a natural way being able to physically walk around them uh without the play space right it's part of what i've been doing for a very long time uh thanks anyway for for having a glance at this tiny little very low quality video um i'll i've i've not used the quest much so i'll get sorted with with the quality of upgrades i think you have to do a bunch of debug stuff to get the the quest recording quality up or maybe i'll manage to set it up so that it's properly linked to my pc and i can read a record from pc and then things will be sorted but yeah i've got i've got a bunch of videos coming soon um probably mostly just talking about stuff like this i have some hand physics update upgrades that i'm working on i don't know whether they're gonna work out as as i expect but if they do we'll be seeing some amazing improvements to hand and grabs and and things like that um but yeah so that's that's that for now it's just a glimpse or or whatever into the future of physics based and coupled with with sort of advanced locomotion systems but uh there we go thanks very much for watching hopefully you enjoyed this glimpse into the future hopefully it gives you some ideas of what's possible and what's coming from from what i'm doing anyway um so thanks very much for watching i will see you in the next video goodbye [Music] you
